Born in 1952, Herman played harmonica from the age of 7. Performing in all kinds of bands he never became famous, but had lots of fun and still does. In Jersey, in 1987, he won 3rd prize in the Harmonica World Championships... Category Diatonic Straight Melodic (18 contestants; Herman played a Romance by Beethoven, on diatonic tremolo harps, but doesn't perform it anymore).
Played in the harmonica duo, "2blow"...
Nowadays he enjoys playing in all styles especially jazz, on Chromatic and Bluesharp (all positions, I like playing in 5th and 6th position).
Currently I'm teaching harmonica at music school and am busy working on harmonica therapy.
I think I've been a Harponline customer since 2005. (Customer Nr. 1433).

Leonid came back from Bristol in autumn 2009, where he took part in Harmonica of the Year competion. This is an annual event organised by National Harmonica League.Leonid competed in 3 different categories: Diatonic Harmonica Melodic, Diatonic Harmonica Blues, and Jazz (any type of harmonica). The results are as follows: - Melodic - 2nd place - Blues - 2nd place - Jazz - 3rd place (He had to compete against chromaic players and still done most of them. He has been told that no diatonic harmonica player reached 3rd place before.) Also, there was no other player who managed to get a place in more than one category.

Riedel Diegel was born around 50 years ago in Gönningen, Southern Germany, Indeed we were born in the same village, yet never met, not even once! The first I heard of him was when our local music scene began a rumour concerning a terrific harmonica player playing with an exciting 'live' rock-band called »Schwoißfuaß , performing in the Southern German dialect (which was the 'in thing' back then).Naturally I went along to some of their gigs but by some strange quirk of fate Riedel was never present.
Later I heard the first-takes of recordings by he and 'Schwoißfuaß' and that was the end of peace of mind for me. From that moment Riedel became the driving force behind my ambition to be a harmonica-player - an ever-present shadow forcing me into playing riffs with what seemed to me, only half the steam he generated. In a way I succeeded, but only in a way......

Therefore for me it's an unbelievable foreordination to meet him, get to know him personally and find myself building his custom harmonicas.

Spent fifteen years as a state prosecutor in the UK, in charge of over 30 homicide cases in that time, but specialised in work advising the police in proactive undercover drugs operations.
Quit being a lawyer to write full time in 2003. Three crime novels published - all featuring DC Karen Sharpe. Translations also in Holland, Sweden, Czech Republic and Indonesia! Fourth due out this year.
Played jazz sax to relax for five years, then got arthritis in little fingers (probably form bad typing technique, rather than the sax).
Changed to harmonica last year - trying to learn diatonic and chromatic, but very amateur and embarrassing so far. Still learning and loving it though.

Harponline was a fantastic find. Brilliant site, excellent, honest, friendly service and loads of maintenance and repair advice. And in Europe!! (No customs duties!!)
